Hello! I am Viviana V. Mendoza. I am a retired educator that started inspiring learning about 35 years ago. I decided to post information here because INSPIRE LEARNING opens a door to a world of new possibilities to contribue in the field of education.

As I continue updating this blog, I will let you know who I am and you will get to know my views on different topics. Please keep in mind some of my personal characteristics and socio-cultural background:

• Physical disability since I was 4 months old (Poliomielitis)
• Born in a well structured family that values learning, creativity, artistic expression, …among other values
• Strong role models, mainly women
• Started working (formally) as a teacher since I was 21 years old
• Happily married
• Got a MEd in Education in Sheffield, UK
• Became a mother of two in the 1990’s
• Taught a variety of subjects: Psychology, Philosophy, Comparative Religion, Sociology, Theory of Knowledge, Biology, A-Level Spanish, Spanish as a Second Language, Spanish as a First Language, and English as a Second Language as well as English as a Foreign Language
• Taught in a variety of educational settings: cultural centers, American K-12th School , universities, and colleges
• Settled in Bolivia
• Taught Advanced Placement (AP) courses: AP Psychology, AP Human Geography, and AP Envirionmental Science
• Worked as Advanced Placement Psychology Reader in the USA
• Was American Psychological Association (APA) Latin American Regional Coordinator for Teachers of Psychology of Secondary Schools (TOPSS)
• Was awarded TWO JEFFERSON CUPS in Excellence in Teaching
• Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 (surgeries, chemotherapies, and radiotherapies)
• Opted for Early Retirement, in Bolivia, due to my health
• Diagnosed with Metastasic cancer in 2012 ( bone methastasis)
• My son created this page so that I keep on inspiring learning.
• Please note: I updated this page yesterday after a long break. I do not know when or how often I will be able to update these pages, because sometimes I do not have enough energy to do this, I hope you do understand what I am going through and feel inspired to learn anyway 😉
